Canadian National Exhibition - Bandshell Park
Bandshell Park is located on the Western edge of the CNE grounds, near the Dufferin Gate. Its chief purpose is the Bandshell, a stage often used for concerts.

Aphrodite, goddess of Love

According to the plaque next to this statue, there were many myths regarding boys with or raised by dolphins

A Centaur, half-man, half-horse

Cerberus, the three-headed dog who guarded the way to the Underworld

Cyclops were, in Greek mythology, one of the earliest types of people created. They sided with the Titans (the losing side) when Zeus usurped his father Cronus

Harpies were vicious creatures, half-bird, half-woman

The wonder boy of Greco-Roman myth, Hercules could pretty much do any thing, and proved it by taking on 12 Labours. This is the tallest of the Bandshell statues.

The Hydra was a snake-headed monster that would re-grow two heads for every one it lost

Once a beautiful woman, Medusa was cursed to such ugliness that all who looked upon her turned to stone

Mermaids were a common legend among sailors of all time periods

The minotaur was half-man, half-bull. King Minos kept it in a labyrinth and fed it Athenian boys and girls

Narcissus was a man so vain he fell in love with his own reflection and wasted away

Orpheus went into the Underworld to rescue his love, Eurydice. His beautiful music kept malevolent forces at bay

Pan was half-man, half-goat and a pastural god

The Phoenix was a bird that lived for 500 years, and then erupted into flames, being reborn from its own ashes

Not sure exactly what's so mythic about a seahorse, but I imagine this is supposed to be rideable

Sphinxes were highly intelligent, and one is known to have riddled Oedipus Rex

The Three Graces are minor goddesses who appear more often in art than in myth

Triton was the son of Poseidon. He used conch shells to calm the sea

Half-snake and half-man, Typhon was a son of Gaia who succeeded in usurping Zeus for a brief time
